Who is the community I would invite? That’s up to you! Our intent with The Red Letter Project is to use theatre to create a safe space for radical empathy, where audience and performers can engage together around urgently relevant issues in our country – including misogyny, women's reproductive rights, mass incarceration, and the failure of systems that purportedly exist to serve and protect the vulnerable. We hope to share the growth and healing that theatre can catalyze with those who are often excluded from the not-always-accessible world of theatre. Do you want to start the evening with food before the performance? Do you want to end the evening with meditation after the discussion? We can help you plan a special evening tailored for your community
What if I do have a space to share?
The spaces we use... - Must be able to hold at minimum 25 people (this includes actors & audience), - Must be able to reach total darkness at night - Must have no limits on sound volume (before 11pm). - We’ll also need two small off-stage areas for the performers to use as entrances/exits, and bathroom access. - We prefer spaces that are wheelchair-accessible. Performances start at 8pm. They will be followed by a short break and a half hour facilitated discussion. Actors will need access to your space at 6:30pm, without the audience present, in order for us to set up, warm up, and do a fight call, so we can have a safe performance in your space.
You’re welcome/recommended to start the evening with any snacks and drinks you wish to provide (no hard alcohol, please). Just make sure the cast has access to the space alone from to 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
